Deciduous shrub or small tree with spinous branches. Leaves ovate in outline, deeply 3–5-lobed, 1–4.5 cm long; lobes conspicuously dentate. Flowers in umbel-like corymbs. Sepals 5. Petals white to red, 5 or sometimes more. Ovary inferior; style mostly solitary. Fruit a pome, deep red, 8–12 mm diam., with a single bony carpel. Southern Blue Mts; Illawarra Ranges.
