Shrubs or small trees. Leaves alternate, entire to much divided. Flowers in axillary or terminal racemes. Perianth slit on the lower side in the bud; segments rolled back to one side. Hypogynous glands 3. Anthers sessile. Ovary on a long gynophore, glabrous. Style protruding from the perianth slit until released; pollen presenter expanded obliquely around the stigma. Fruit a follicle, opening almost flat. Seeds numerous in two rows, imbricate upwards with a broad terminal nearly straight wing and with a yellow powdery substance between the seeds.
